Beginning January 1, 2025


You will have a new Medicare plan – the Blue Shield Medicare (PPO), a Group Medicare Advantage Prescription Drug plan (GMAPD). This new plan will replace the Medicare Medical and Prescription Drug plan you currently have. It will continue to provide comprehensive medical and prescription drug coverage while keeping your out-of-pocket expenses low.

    Access to the same network of doctors and other health care providers you use today including providers that are part of the Blue Shield of California network of doctors and providers that accept Medicare.
  • Dedicated Customer Service
    Blue Shield provides one, easy -to-use Customer Service phone number for both your medical and pharmacy benefits. You can contact them at (800) 370-8852 (TYY:711).
  • Home Meal delivery
    Home Meal delivery services at no cost for qualified members recovering from serious illness.
  • Nationwide coverage
    Access to out-of-network providers that accept Medicare nationwide.
  • PERS
    Personal Emergency Response System (PERS) from LifeStation®
  • Pharmacy benefits
    Same drug copays with a rich formulary.
  • SilverSneakers ®
    Basic gym access through SilverSneakers® Fitness, to help you stay healthy.
  • Transportation
    Book a ride to your doctor appointments at no cost. Each ride is applicable to plan approved health related locations and limited to 24 one-way trips per year.

Blue Shield of California is a PPO plan with a Medicare contract. Enrollment in Blue Shield of California depends on contract renewal. Blue Shield of California offers individual and employer group retiree plans to Medicare beneficiaries who have Part A and Part B. Individual plans are open to all Medicare beneficiaries who reside within a plan’s specific service area. Employer group retiree plans are open only to Medicare beneficiaries who are eligible group retirees and who reside within a plan’s specific service area. Individual and employer group retiree plans have different service areas, benefits and provider networks.
