Providers within California
Search for doctors, hospitals, urgent care centers, chiropractors, acupuncturists, and other providers.
Providers outside California
Locate healthcare providers through the BlueCard® (U.S. providers) or Blue Shield Global® Core (global providers) programs. When asked, enter “XEP” for the plan prefix.
Mental health providers nationwide
Find therapists, psychologists, psychiatrists, and other mental health providers by selecting “BSC MHSA” as the benefit plan. For virtual providers, select “Telehealth” under “Specialties.”
What you should know about your plan’s coverage when selecting a provider:
Urgent care coverage
- HMO (Level I): You must use urgent care centers affiliated with your doctor’s medical group or Independent Practice Association. Before seeking care, call your doctor’s office or Blue Shield Member Services to locate an urgent care center.
- PPO (Level II) or out-of-network (Level III): You have the option to visit any provider, however, the out-of-pocket costs will be lower if care is provided by a PPO network provider.
Coverage outside California and the U.S.
- HMO (Level I): You only have access to urgent or emergency medical care or authorized medical follow-up care.
- PPO (Level II) or out-of-network (Level III): You can access care for covered services nationwide but are only covered for urgent or emergency services outside the U.S.
