This pharmacy network allows you to save money on Level A pharmacies, also known as a Preferred pharmacies.
Pharmacy options
Level A pharmacies, also known as Preferred pharmacies, offer lower copays than Level B pharmacies. You will pay $0 for Tier 1 medications, which include most generic prescriptions. Preferred pharmacies include:
  • CVS Pharmacy®
  • CVS Pharmacy in Target stores
  • Costco
  • Safeway
  • Sav-On
  • Vons/Pavilions
By filling your prescriptions at a Preferred pharmacy, you can save on your out-of-pocket costs.

Level B pharmacies include all other pharmacies in the network and offer copays at the existing level. If you continue to use Level B pharmacies, your benefits stay the same. (Consult your plan's Summary of Benefits to confirm your prescription copays.)

90-day prescriptions at retail pharmacies

You can get a 90-day supply of prescription maintenance drugs at most participating pharmacies. If you take maintenance medications for long-term medical conditions or for chronic conditions such as diabetes, you can obtain a 90-day supply from any participating retail pharmacy in Blue Shield's pharmacy network.
Mail service prescriptions
If you take medications for chronic conditions, you can fill up to a 90-day supply through our mail service pharmacy. Shipping is free and you may save on your copay.
